Kyrgios got fined $120,000 for calling Fergus Murphy a potato and screaming at him. The biggest fine in the history of the game. Many people thought he should be banned for life. He was suspended for 6 months. He was threatened with further action. He has never recovered from that incident at Cincinnatti and may never play again. How you can call that a minor action on the part of the ATP is beyond me. Fergus's inaccurate calling of a time violation may have cost tennis one of our most exciting and original players. He sincerely regretted his actions, had months of depression, was torn apart by the media. Many other players have done and said things just as bad but they don't have a 'history' so have not been so completely punished and annihilated. Why do you think Kyrgios is not returning to the court right now? Because in his last exciting match with Thiem, the Australian Press branded him a Trump who was unable to control his followers. Win or lose he is treated appallingly. What's the point of him walking onto a court when he is fined $5000 for changing his shoes, $2000 for pointing at a ball and $1000 for looking at the referee? It's cheaper to sit in his hotel room. You can't just keep kicking a player for fun.
