Super read. I thought Nick came into this AO leaner, fitter and readier than before. Bit disappointed he had to play Meddy so early, because despite all we read on TT he puts eyes on tennis and there is nothing like a full house at a slam. This showed me how far Meddy has come, a year ago, he might hv lost his cool. He knew he had the return. Stayed calm, served brilliantly and as we know from approx 2010s the return has changed the men’s game hugely.

Ps I also agree with NKs 95% comment.

I confess to being slightly bemused with all the TT/journo crowd comments. The AO crowd have sledged forever, and it’s as if no one has experienced a home DC crowd or for that matter a Serena v Heather crowd on CC….;)

Great article! You should shove this article in the throat of folks like Ben Rothenberg who consistently give the most illogical arguments about moving men's tennis to Bo3. I simply can't imagine how the quality of tennis (and that of top10) will decline if that happens!

Would love to see comment on Alcaraz-Berrettini match. I was calculating serve speeds and didn't realize that Cressy almost hits two first serves. First serve is 192.3 kph; second serve 185.3. Of 16 remaining players, FAA is next at 166 kph. That's a wild difference. Zverev, as usual, has the biggest spread; fastest first serve by quite a bit at 201; 14th/16 second serve at 146.7. Zverev first serve 14 kph more than rafa; second serve 15kph slower!!
