If there were ways to make the grass less slippery, they will have certainly already considered it." It is a reasonable assumption. But, in all areas of human affairs I have noticed an increasing and prevalent incidence of blind spots and incompetence at the highest levels of authority. So-called expertise seems to mean less and less. It could very well be that, amidst their vast knowledge and experience, the administration and groundskeepers at Wimbledon have made a simple and very consequential mistake. If this might be so, the additional problem is that, even if they realize it, they, like many other organizations and people with great power, very probably will deny it and cover it up to save face. We will see.
